Behind the brand : Kaneko Kohyo

In all my years living in New York City, there was always a new spot everyone was talking about. Where else could you walk into a grab a latte, fresh-cut flowers and stroll through a perfectly curated, upscale furniture store? Roman and Williams Guild is the epitome of a hidden gem, nestled in the heart of SoHo, New York.

I often found myself strolling for what felt like hours, there was so much to see and take in. In the midst of searching for the perfect piece, I stumbled upon the Japanese brand Kaneko Kohyo.

In my twenties, there wasn’t much I could afford, but I did walk away with a small salt dish for $30. I could justify the purchase because it was multifunctional, part salt dish, part jewelry tray. Now, in my late thirties, I find that the craftsmanship and simplicity have truly stood the test of time. Nearly 15 years have passed and I still find myself gravitating toward these pieces.
